Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling

Surf City Hydraulic Engineering is highly proficient in using HEC-RAS to prepare one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) hydraulic models. We have experience preparing various hydraulic assessments, including floodplain delineation studies (FEMA LOMRs and CLOMRs), design support and analysis for land development projects, hydraulic structure evaluations, and dam break inundation studies.

Green Infrastructure Design and Planning

Green infrastructure (GI) has become increasingly popular because it is an effective way to address flooding while, at the same time, providing a myriad of other benefits such as enhanced soil health, shade, and overall community enhancement. The multitude of benefits associated with GI allows for creative funding opportunities for communities who want to incorporate more GI into their master plans.

At Surf City Hydraulic Engineering, we understand that GI is much more than what is printed on construction drawings. We believe that good design and planning means considering maintenance, monitoring, and funding.

We offer services that help our clients with the planning, design, construction (administration), maintenance, and monitoring of GI.

Stormwater Management

Surf City Hydraulic Engineering has a wealth of experience designing stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP) and low impact development (LID) for land development projects. We leverage our expertise to help clients with the following:

  • Stormwater Quality Urban Impact Mitigation Plans (SQUIMP)
  • Hydromodification Assessment and Management
  • Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
